Due to the recent reconfiguration of the Emergency Surgical Floor, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to join the Surgical Team as a Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse on Ward 18 Surgery. You will be based on Ward 18 but there is the expectation that you will be able to support across the surgical floor if necessary.
This is an ideal opportunity for nurses already working within surgery to increase and extend their skills, whilst beginning to become involved in leadership decisions with the support of your ward manager and senior leadership team.
There are many opportunities to develop your leadership skills and you will be supported along your journey by all of the senior leadership team within the emergency surgical floor.
Main duties of the job
* Act as a credible visible role model for all junior nursing and allied healthcare professional staff.
* Actively participate in discussions with the MDT, raising and discussing concerns and actively seeking acceptable and best outcome solutions for the patients, ensuring that patients and relatives' views are heard and considered.
* Support the department team in resolving clinical and operational issues on a shift-by-shift basis while ensuring that best practice nursing care is delivered.
* Work in collaboration with the manager to establish a cleanliness culture across the department, ensuring that the patient environment is well maintained, clean, and safe.
* Maintain and supervise junior members of staff in ensuring that nursing care delivered to all patients is based on individual assessments, is evidence-based, documented, and evaluated for effectiveness.
