Progress Teachers are working closely with a local Alternative Provision to appoint an experienced and dedicated English Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering impactful and effective English lessons to students aged 8-18 with SEMH/ASC, tailoring approaches as required to ensure maximum engagement and progress for all.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver impatful English lessons to pupils across KS2-KS4, adapting content to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH and ASC.
* Provide a nurturing and structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
* Develop and contribute to personalised learning plans for students, ensuring their academic progress is tracked and celebrated.
* Offer emotional and social support to students, building trusting relationships to encourage engagement and participation.
* Work closely with colleagues to provide holistic support for students.
* Collaborate with parents and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s education and well-being.
* Maintain detailed records of student progress and contribute to the development of their individual education plans (IEPs).
* Manage classroom behaviour using positive strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Provide opportunities for students to engage in activities that build their literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills.
* Support students in preparing for life beyond education, including further education, employment, and independent living.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree in English, or a relevant field, with experience teaching the Subject to GCSE-level.
* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is highly advantageous, however, experienced non-qualified teachers will also be considered for this role.
* Proven experience supporting students with additional needs to overcome barriers and achieve positively.
* Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to teaching, with a passion for supporting young people to succeed.
* Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection protocols.
