Essex County Council (ECC) is delighted to support Braintree Council in recruiting a Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance Manager.
The Opportunity:
Now is an exciting time to join Braintree District Council, as we are reviewing our services to ensure they are fit for the future. We are looking for someone to drive innovation and ensure the provision of excellent services.
In this key role, you will manage teams across a diverse range of services, including Street Cleansing, Grounds Maintenance/Amenity, Horticulture, and Open Spaces.
Your Duties Will Include:
* Managing and overseeing the provision of high-quality customer-focused services provided by the Street Scene Teams.
* Providing operational leadership, support, motivation, and development to the supervisors/team leaders.
* Managing and supervising external contractors involved in the day-to-day delivery of services.
* Regularly reviewing working practices and procedures to optimize resource use.
* Assisting in managing the budgets, including monitoring expenditure.
* Monitoring levels of sickness absence and taking appropriate action.
* Undertaking investigations as required (e.g., service complaints, disciplinary matters).
Experience:
You will have the following skills and experience:
* Experience of leading and developing frontline teams.
* Excellent people management skills.
* Experience of delivering grounds maintenance services - desirable.
* Experience of delivering street cleansing services - desirable.
* Budget management experience.
* Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* IT skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
