To provide a range of conceptual design services to PDS clients. To successfully deliver creative campaigns and projects that meet the client’s brief and that achieve the required standards of quality within the timescales specified. To be integral in the development and growth of the studio.
Key responsibilities:
* To develop engaging conceptual designs that display creative thinking and that successfully meet the client brief.
* To provide conceptual designs across a range of requirements and materials that includes: brand identity, campaign identity, product identity, packaging design, brochures, advertising, POS, exhibitions, catalogues, signage, social media and digital assets, email, PowerPoint.
* To generate, develop and communicate ideas that include visual elements and copylines.
* To manage creative projects from concept to print ready artwork.
* Where appropriate, to be the lead designer/project leader on major creative projects (non-digital).
* To develop and own the creative relationship with key contacts at major client accounts/projects.
* To lead client meetings, take briefs, present design concepts, discuss and propose solutions to the client’s design needs and objectives.
* To take and interpret complicated client briefs and communicate to the wider team.
* To collaborate and work effectively as part of a team on client projects.
* Where appropriate to provide design and technical direction and support to other team members.
* Where required to review the quality of designs produced by junior team members prior to being proofed to the client.
* Where required to mentor and develop the creative skillsets of junior team members.
* To accompany members of the client services team on client calls, meetings and visits, to help identify, win and deliver major creative sales opportunities.
* Where required to work effectively with third party providers, such as copywriters, in the delivery of client projects.
* To build effective working relationships with the studio team and other PDS departments.
* To follow studio procedures and processes.
* To pro-actively keep abreast of design trends and best practice, and actively contribute to the studio’s creative culture.
* To pro-actively advise studio manager and lead creative on suggestions for change and improvements to procedures and creative practices.
* To advise the studio manager and lead creative on identifying training requirements.
Qualifications and experience
* Excellent ideation skills – the ability to generate, develop and communicate ideas including copy lines.
* Expert working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
* Good knowledge of other applications in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
* An excellent working knowledge of the print process and print finishes.
* The ability to create complex graphics.
* Expert typographical and layout skills.
* Expert artworking skills including creation of print ready artwork.
* Ability to build strong relationships at all levels (client and internal)
* Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
* Excellent people and mentoring skills
* The ability to lead major creative projects.
* Ability to manage both own projects and work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Excellent commercial appreciation and awareness.
Nice to have
* Working knowledge of the Mailchimp email platform.
* Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
* Understanding of digital marketing including social media for business.
Personal attributes
* Minimum of 5 years design experience.
* Previous experience of working in a studio/agency environment essential.
* Experience of working with mid-range corporates, manufacturers and retailers (i.e. PDS’ type of clients).
