About us
The John Hampden School Wendover is a three-form entry community infant school (ages 3-7) with a capacity of 296 pupils. Wendover is a small market town and civil parish on the northern side of the Chilterns. The school is situated close to the centre on a larger campus together with an adjacent junior school and a secondary school.
Our school is a vibrant hub of learning, where creativity and curiosity are fostered through carefully designed environments both inside and out. From the striking, unique and expansive Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to our well-organised, learning-orientated classrooms, we provide a space where children feel inspired and safe to explore, ask questions, and achieve their best. We pride ourselves on ensuring that every child’s learning experience is stimulating, engaging, and secure.
The headteacher should provide strategic leadership and professional operational management for The John Hampden School Wendover to secure success and improvement for the school. This is to ensure high quality education and adaptive teaching for all its pupils with high standards and achievement in all areas of the school’s work. The governors expect the headteacher to lead by personal example by championing communications and demonstrating a full and professional commitment to excellence in education.
Specifically:
1. Further develop and sustain the school’s ethos and strategic direction together, by working collaboratively with the governing board and - through consultation with the school community - all stakeholders.
2. Establish and oversee systems, processes and policies so the school can operate effectively.
3. Identify problems and barriers to school effectiveness, and develop strategies for school improvement that are realistic, timely and suited to the school’s context, making sure these strategies are effectively implemented.
4. Monitor progress towards achieving the school’s aims and objectives within the associated development plans.
5. Allocate financial resources appropriately, efficiently and effectively.
