Angel Hill Surgery in Bury St Edmunds has an exciting opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis, for 19 hours per week. In this essential front-line role at the practice, you will help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. The main responsibilities of the role include: Receiving patients at the reception desk and answering calls. Booking appointments, registering patients and entering details onto the system. Signposting patients and other health professionals appropriately. Recording requests for home visits and printing patient summaries. Ensuring waiting rooms are kept tidy after each surgery and ensure notice boards are kept in-date with information. Amending patient details such as change of address, to ensure they remain accurate. Advising patients of results as provided by the doctor. Ensuring all patients records are dispatched appropriately and filing. Daily reception administration tasks. Unlocking and locking up of the premises. Please see attached job description for further information. About the Candidate We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. You will have the following skills and experience: Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner. Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations. Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet". Strong IT and administration skills. Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
