Business Advisor - Workforce Development Specialist
The Growth Company (GC) Business Support team has a vacancy for a Workforce Development Specialist in Trafford to support business owners with demonstrable experience, knowledge, and credibility in organisational development to foster business growth and employment practices.
This role, based within Trafford Local Authority, involves delivering high-quality organisational/workforce development assessments for a portfolio of business owners and leaders. The specialist will diagnose and support improvements across organisations, creating tailored action plans aligned with development and growth strategies to enhance productivity and growth.
The position requires in-depth knowledge of the local business environment, including work types, skills needs, opportunities, and challenges within Trafford. The specialist will work at least 3 days per week across various locations within the area.
Since 2011, GM Business Growth Hub has supported over 15,000 businesses through finance guidance, international links, innovation, and people development, working with public and private partners to provide expert support, events, programs, funding, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain effective relationships with business owners/leaders and key contacts to promote the Workforce Development team and facilitate referrals.
2. Collaborate with training providers using the GM Skills Map portal to offer impartial training solutions tailored to needs at individual, departmental, and company levels.
3. Develop a network of professional contacts to generate referrals.
4. Handle client enquiries via face-to-face, virtual, phone, and email to assess growth potential using appropriate tools.
5. Accurately record enquiries and referrals on the CRM system.
6. Conduct detailed diagnostics and needs analyses to identify support starting points.
7. Engage in discussions with clients about complex workforce and organisational challenges.
8. Monitor and collect data on outputs and impacts throughout projects.
9. Deliver workshops and cohort sessions on specific topics via face-to-face or virtual platforms like Teams or Zoom.

* Knowledge of HR practices, policies, and processes.
* Excellent presentation skills, both written and oral.
