To support the exciting expansion of Fair Ways education provision we are looking for a pastoral manager at our SEMH School located on the outskirts of Southampton supporting around 25 young people. Our students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and as such are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to meet their needs. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements. As a Pastoral Manager at our School you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like: Leadership and Management: To hold partial accountability for the day to day running of the school by having an oversight of all key roles and responsibilities, which will encourage the school to run smoothly. Keeping Students Safe: To oversee the Pastoral team to ensure that each student's risk assessment and support plan is comprehensive and correct, completed through the use of effective monitoring of the appropriate systems and procedures to ensure the students are provided with a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment. Supporting Positive Outcomes : To oversee the Pastoral team to ensure that each student is provided with high quality pastoral care through the proactive development of robust pastoral responses, behaviour management, and wider school culture, to ensure that all students feel supported and valued within the school. Ensuring accuracy and detail - To record and share pastoral and safeguarding reports accurately and within the required time frames using the relevant systems and processes ensuring that all significant information is shared allowing proactive and statutory responses. This will include acting as a deputy designated safeguarding lead and responding to safeguarding concerns appropriately. Managing risk: To take an active role in understanding the risk assessments and support plans for students, through the use of appropriate systems and procedures to ensure the students are provided with a safe and nurturing environment. Building meaningful professional relationships: To proactively maintain safe and respectful relationships with students through effective support, guidance and care ensuring the maintenance of safe professional boundaries in line with best practice. Being a Trauma Informed professional : To provide and model trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and physical intervention to ensure students are supported appropriately during times of crisis. This role is offered on 37.5 hours a week Term Time only basis. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. To support this, you will be required to have, or be working towards a minimum of the following qualification levels: Social work degree or Counselling qualifications at Degree / diploma level and / or to be able to demonstrate the relevant experience needed to support this role To possess an understanding of legislation relevant to education and child protection policies and procedures.
