At our advanced facility in Netherley, we lead the way in the repair and overhaul of aeroderivative gas turbines, industrial gas turbines, power turbines, and their accessories. This newly established position is designed to enhance the capabilities of our GT Aero team and support the implementation of a new supply chain structure for GT EMEA. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for managing local commercial operations, driving both strategic and non-strategic sourcing, and ensuring that products and services are procured at competitive prices in line with GT EMEA’s sourcing strategies. You’ll also lead continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency, reduce costs, improve delivery, minimise risk, and add value across the supply chain.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
* Act as the primary interface between GT EMEA business streams and local sourcing, ensuring alignment with the approved procurement plan.
* Lead site procurement change management initiatives to optimise processes.
* Select, develop, and manage supplier performance to meet key objectives of cost, quality, and delivery.
* Drive the implementation of supply agreements, ensuring vendor, contract, and item data are up to date.
* Manage purchase order demands to secure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality delivery from suppliers.
* Act as an escalation point for cost or contractual issues, collaborating with commodity management for higher-level resolutions.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Professional qualifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are advantageous.
* Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or project buying roles.
* Proven negotiation skills and experience in sourcing and contract management.
* Strong knowledge of MRP systems and experience managing complex projects.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
* A proactive approach to driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
