Job summary
Lea Vale Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our team as a prescription clerk, on a full time basis for hours per week, in our busy medical practice located in Luton town centre.
Main duties of the job
1. Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis ensuring compliance with the practice protocol.
2. Deal with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice.
3. Support the practice pharmacists as required.
4. Deal with medication changes from hospital letters, removing old medication, adding new or making dose changes. Sending letter to patient, including confirmation of changes. Add any relevant monitoring diaries.
5. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
6. Add new patient medication, pass to registered GP for approval highlighting any concerns found. Liaise with patient via phone call or letter.
7. Ensure medication reviews are arranged with an appropriate clinician.
8. Support the prescribing manager with any aspect of practice administration and clerical duties deemed necessary.
9. Any other duties as reasonably requested.
10. Previous NHS experience, ideally within a GP setting.
11. Medical terminology knowledge.
12. Knowledge of handling data.
