A look into the role
Our Health and Safety Advisor will provide a comprehensive, professional and customer focused advisory service on health, safety and wellbeing across our Group, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
This position will be well suited to a candidate who has strong experience of working in a complex health and safety environment.
Our new Health and Safety Advisor will have exposure to a wide variety of interesting and challenging work including:
Audits/Inspections
* Travel throughout our estate, carrying out audits/inspections and working with the supply chain, to detect existing potential hazards. You will develop and implement a recommended corrective or preventative measurable action plan.
* Monitor and review of action plans arising from internal audits/inspections and provision of reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
Accidents / Incidents / Near Misses
* Log and investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses involving employees, suppliers and customers on the health and safety database, identifying root causes and documenting and implementing corrective actions.
* Ensure all supporting evidence such as CCTV, inspection records, witness statements, etc are obtained, recorded and filed.
Compliance
* Lead by example at all times, ensuring compliance across the Group and that all working practices and standards are adhered to including Health and Safety legislative requirements.
* Ensure all documentation is stored correctly and retained in line with GDPR requirements.
Reporting
* Provide statistical analysis of accident/incident numbers, types and trends.
* Maintain statistical data required for reporting to Local Councils, safety committees and management.
Wellbeing
* Liaise with the Occupational Health Advisor to ensure all statutory health surveillance and legal requirements are planned and scheduled according to best practice guidelines.
* Complete DSE Assessments.
General
* Provide expert advice, best practice and guidance to all Henderson Group staff, working closely with operational colleagues on each site.
* Create a culture of awareness and positive action.
* Liaise with enforcement authorities and maintain a good working relationship with all statutory authorities which come under the remit of health & safety.
Skills for Success
Joining us as Health and Safety Advisor, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:
* NEBOSH general certificate (or equivalent)
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a dedicated health and safety advisory role
* Comprehensive knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and best practise
* Proficiency in using MS Office packages particularly excel
* Full, current UK or EU driving license
The Attributes you’ll need include:

* Ability to build relationships and influence effectively
* Ability to communicate with credibility to varied stakeholders
Desirable Criteria include:
* NEBOSH Diploma, a third level qualification or equivalent (Cert/Dip/Degree)
* Membership of a relevant professional body
* Training Qualification

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid & flexible working available.
