Functional Skills Assessor – Alternative Provision (South Tyneside, September 2025 Start)
Are you an experienced Functional Skills Assessor passionate about supporting young people and young adults in gaining essential qualifications? Do you have a flexible, engaging approach to assessment that meets the needs of learners in an alternative provision setting? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new Alternative Provision in South Tyneside, set to open in September 2025.
This provision is dedicated to supporting learners aged 14 to 25 who require a personalised and flexible learning approach, helping them build confidence, achieve qualifications, and develop skills for life and employment.
The Role:
Assess Functional Skills Maths and English (Level 1 2) for learners aged 14 to 25.
Support students through classroom-based and community-based learning, ensuring assessments are accessible, engaging, and relevant.
Work with small groups of 15-20 learners in the first year, adapting assessment methods to meet individual needs.
Provide constructive feedback and tailored support, ensuring learners progress at their own pace.
Maintain accurate records of assessments, progress tracking, and compliance with awarding body requirements.
Collaborate with tutors/trainers and wider staff to support learner success.
