The lady from St Clears has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She requires support to maintain a routine and structure to her days and requires help with specific tasks and developing her confidence and motivation to maintain her interests. She also requires overnight care 3 times a week from 9.30pm to 6.30am to assist with bedtime routine and any help needed during the night if she is restless. An extra 6 hours per week to be used during the evenings to keep her company and assisting with food and drinks. Also to provide companionship and to maintain her safety and her independence in her own home. No personal care is required just reminders to her of her routine.
The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the employer.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Encouraging the employer to eat and drink during the evenings and assisting with bedtime routine.
Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence,
Provide a safe supervised environment to enable her to be free from risk or harm whilst supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with them and providing them with social interaction
Encouraging the employer to take medication and support mental and physical health
provide help with preparing supper / breakfast
Encourage the employer to provide medication for her cat
Provide a safe supervised environment throughout the night to allow the employer to rest.
Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
Communicate with the persons family and wider support network
To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Job Working Environment:
Working in employer’s homes and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1. Caring, patient and friendly.

3. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
4. Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
5. Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
6. Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
7. Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
8. Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
9. A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
10. You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
11. Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
