Contract: 2 years – fixed term with opportunities for loan/secondment
Salary: £36,648 - £39,186 per annum
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid Working or Onsite)
The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. Key Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to support this ambitious and innovative water partnership to increase the scale and impact of its engagement. As our Partnership Engagement Officer, you will work on behalf of the seven strategic partners to engage with a range of stakeholders including communities, farmers, businesses, and partner organisations across South Yorkshire. You will be responsible for developing and implementing specific engagement plans working across multiple channels and audiences. You will develop and implement a programme of events and support the implementation of our education programme in schools. You will develop communications content for our channels to ensure that visibility and understanding of Connected by Water increases over time. You will collaborate with teams in our partner organisations and with wider stakeholders, securing opportunities to join up plans and messaging. Overall, you will work proactively to raise awareness of flood risk and the work of the partnership and to increase resilience to flooding and the changing climate.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You should be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, such as communications/marketing or geography/environmental science, or have equivalent experience (3+ years). You will have evidence of continued professional development and seek to draw on best practices to maintain your skills and knowledge. You will have proven experience of planning, implementing, and evaluating engagement activities including setting engagement objectives and analysing stakeholders. You should have experience engaging with at least one of the following groups: local councillors/politicians, communities, children/schools, landowners/farmers, and evidence of how you tailor your style to the audience. You will have good knowledge of communication channels such as websites and social media. You should be enhanced DBS cleared and safeguarding trained or committed to undertaking this in post.
