Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Eating Disorders Team in Stockport.
The Cheshire & Wirral Adult Eating Disorder Service is the only fully comprehensive NHS Eating Disorder Service within the Northwest. It offers inpatient and outpatient assessment and treatment for eating disorders within the catchment area of Cheshire and the Wirral and surrounding areas.
The consultant will participate in the Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota for East Cheshire.
Main duties of the job
* Direct interventions to patients, including the psychiatric and medical assessments of patients, and formulation of complex cases with medical and psychiatric needs. Many of the physical health management is delivered within the community service itself, however there will also be liaison with primary and secondary care teams to help manage physical health consequences of the eating disorders, in line with local guidelines and policies. This will take place in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Risk assessment and management for the medical and psychiatric component of the disorder in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Taking a leading role in the monitoring and treatment of physical conditions of eating disorders, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals (dieticians, physicians, paediatricians, general practitioners etc).
* Supporting the multidisciplinary team with physical health management of eating disorder patients.
* Treating and monitoring of psychiatric aspects of eating disorders, including core psychopathology and psychiatric comorbidities, such as psychotic, affective, anxiety and personality disorders.
* Prescribing which extends beyond usual psychiatric formulary and appropriately monitoring medications according to relevant NICE guidelines.
* Using the Mental Health Act as appropriate in the management of eating disorders and general psychiatry.

Qualifications Essential
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych
* Additional clinical qualifications.
ELIGIBILITY Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential
* Excellent knowledge in General Adult Psychiatry.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
