Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist (Band 7)
Fixed Term Contract (secondment considered) 27 hours a week
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic and innovative, to become the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for stroke on a fixed term or secondment basis.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a committed team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Therapy Assistants delivering a service to the hyper-acute, acute and rehabilitation wards located at the Primary Stroke Centre at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will have highly specialist knowledge and skills in stroke rehabilitation. As a clinical lead, they will be responsible for having an overview of Occupational Therapy requirements across wards for stroke. They will also be required to support a large team of junior Occupational Therapists and therapy assistants. They will be responsible for ensuring the service is dynamic and evidence-based. They will have awareness and focus on wider hospital initiatives to ensure patient flow whilst balancing this with priority for inpatient rehabilitation.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this, it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education & Qualifications
Essential
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Membership of RCOT
* Evidence of continuous and current clinical, professional, leadership and academic development relevant to clinical fields.
* Clinical Educators/Field worker course or equivalent.
Desirable
* Registered for MSc
* Management and leadership skills training accreditation
* ECDL
* M' level or equivalent courses in relevant speciality.
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of a range of relevant conditions and their management
* An understanding of Clinical governance and evidence based practice.
* Knowledge of recent NHS and Trust developments and their impact on the service.
* Knowledge of RCP and SNNAP guidelines.
* Knowledge of relevant policies and legislation
Experience
Essential
* Recent experience of working in the NHS including recent experience at Band 7 level.
* Experience of working in an inpatient stroke unit.
* Broad base of clinical experience prior to specializing.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working
* Experience of student education within the workplace up to graduate level.
* Supervision of senior and junior staff and students.
* Experience of clinical audit and service evaluation
* Experience of research and/or project management/service development.
* Experience of organizing and implementing training programmes for staff.

* Experience of managing tone/spasticity and splinting.
