About this role
We’re looking for an analytical and results-driven performance marketing leader with a proven track record of delivering significant growth through direct (primarily digital) marketing.
Acquisition growth through performance marketing is one of the biggest strategic initiatives for the organisation, and we’re seeking an ambitious, proactive, and data-led marketer to lead this team and drive a step change in effectiveness and growth.
You will have a deep understanding of the full performance media mix, with the ability to plan and execute strategies that deliver profitable growth. Commercially and analytically minded, you will be adept at balancing daily operational rigour with strategic initiatives to ensure continuous improvement. You will also be a seasoned communicator, experienced in managing multiple stakeholders and empowering a team. You’ll be able to demonstrate how you have used these skills to drive growth through performance marketing.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone passionate about driving profitable business growth.
What you’ll do in this role:
1. Reporting into the Head of Marketing, you will lead performance marketing for Capital One UK.
2. You and your team will be responsible for all performance marketing channels including, but not limited to, PPC (Google, Microsoft), SEO, display, paid social (Meta, TikTok, X, etc.), VOD & direct mail.
3. You will act as the central point of contact for performance marketing strategy and results across the organisation, managing relationships with key stakeholders and proactively identifying opportunities to develop greater sophistication.
4. You will be responsible for all reporting around performance, explaining key marketing & credit metrics to stakeholders and should be very comfortable doing deep analysis into the numbers.
5. You will be responsible for identifying new areas of opportunity including new channels, targeting, bidding strategies, and data usage.
6. You will foster a high-performance culture in the performance marketing team, developing rhythms and rituals that ensure operational rigour and continuous experimentation at pace.
7. You’ll champion the adtech and attribution (potentially through MMM) agenda, clearly articulating to the business the value in investing and leveraging tools and data to deliver targeted and effective marketing.
8. You’ll partner with brand, research, design, and business analyst teams to develop a core audience strategy, exploring/executing plans that improve acquisition through the use of 1st party data and audience insights.
9. You will need to ensure we have all the correct high-performing agency partners; identifying gaps and onboarding new partners where needed, and managing these ongoing relationships.
10. You’ll manage our relationships with partners, such as Google and Microsoft, setting our agenda and leveraging joint business plans to full effect.
What you’ll bring to the role:
1. Significant experience in managing and growing an in-house performance marketing team in a high-volume B2C business.
2. Seasoned in meeting and surpassing ambitious business growth goals through performance marketing channels.
3. The ability to balance daily rigour with strategic direction, clearly articulating results and plans to all levels of the business.
4. Proven leadership skills, taking the lead of a function and fostering a high-performance culture.
5. Experience managing and building relationships with key digital partners, including Google, Meta, and Microsoft.
6. High level of analytical rigour, with the ability to dive deep into analysis to understand performance throughout the funnel.
7. A great communicator with honed influencing skills.
8. Ability to coordinate and prioritise multiple tasks across the team simultaneously.
9. Financial services or similar industry experience is preferred, and experience in credit and lending is highly sought after.
