We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Highways Supervisor to join our NMC NE account in Forfar.
Our NMC NE account is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Northeast since August 2022, with an increased focus on supporting the creation of sustainable futures for communities, together we will achieve net zero targets and improve the customer experience.
Covering 593Km of network, we provide routine highways, bridges and structure maintenance as well as designing and managing road safety schemes.
By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.
The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, with overnight & weekend working as required by the business.
As a Assistant Highways Supervisor you will be responsible for:
Providing support to Highways Supervisors and larger operations Management team as required.
Carry out compliance and monitoring of hire plant.
Complete operational briefs and permits.
Assist with winter maintenance record keeping.
Deputise supervisors during absence.
Maintain and update records with information systems.
Assist with incident investigations.
Prepare works completed for commercial.
Assisting with works planning, commissioning and record keeping
Processing and planning of material orders and invoices.
Ensure that the gang accurately records all work carried out so that accurate claims can be submitted to the Client and 'as built' details can be provided.

Arrange and process timesheets in a timely manner.
Quantifying and ordering materials, plant and equipment necessary for the work in good time. Arrange sub-contractors in conjunction with the Commercial team.
Arrange training for employees as necessary and in accordance with the training matrix Interview prospective employees in conjunction with others. What are we looking for?
SVQ level 3 qualifications
Competent user of Microsoft Office
Understand client business, requirements, service needs and aspirations.
Good liaison and interpersonal skills
Team management skills
Customer relationship skills
Commercial awareness
Basic programming and planning of sequence of works.
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Participation in emergency and winter service delivery
Self-motivated and proactive in delivering solutions.
Excellent customer relations skills In addition to this, it is desirable that you have a CDM 2015 awareness and SSSTS completed course and certificate. It is essential that you have a Full UK Driving Licence to be considered for this role.
