Technical Director- Business Systems- Remote- up to £120k + 10% bonus
Our client, a leading supplier of technology used by over 60,000 customers in over 100+ countries, is looking to grow their Technical Leadership team by bringing in a Technical Director to focus on the clients' operational systems (Netsuite, Salesforce, and Zendesk).
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing the day-to-day technical needs of the business systems, being the technical authority, maintaining good architectural practices and keeping systems in line with current best practices.
2. Working alongside a Product Manager for the Business Systems and key stakeholders to define the technical vision and roadmap for the evolution of the business systems, alongside the key system and workflow improvements.
3. Work closely with the engineering team to ensure the technical approach across the business system aligns with company data and reporting needs.
4. Maintain overarching ownership of the wider end-to-end customer lifecycle for the business systems and our customer data.
5. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand the return-on-investment case and priority for improvements to business systems and report on long-term business benefits achieved.
6. Align short-term improvements with long-term transformation to ensure that consistent direction of travel is achieved.
7. Manage the technical team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the business systems. Reducing reliance on external contractors and bringing internal technical knowledge in-house.
8. Deprecate legacy systems and ensure replacement systems meet the needs of the business's future growth.
9. Manage stakeholder expectations and be the central point of communication for technical aspects of the business systems.
Skills and Experience
1. An experienced engineering or IT leader, supporting agile teams with the ability to guide, facilitate, and drive delivery.
2. Passionate with a background in software engineering or internal IT, with a strong knowledge of development and technical principles, methodologies, and values.
3. Extensive Salesforce development experience, or strong knowledge and understanding of, including Marketing Cloud, Lightning Web Components, Apex Programming, Lightning experience, Controllers, Triggers, APIs.
4. Experience of working with Salesforce connected business ecosystem, working with the likes of NetSuite and ZAB, and supporting departmental level integrations to remove friction points and automate manual processes.
5. Bring strong engineering principles to business systems, such as change control, release notes, technical documentation, and best practices.
6. Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a strong knowledge of Salesforce best practices and connecting technologies, coupled with practical experience.
7. Able to assess technical changes, understand them in the context of the wider system, and identify where new technological developments benefit the business.
8. Experience in debugging and diagnosing the root cause of issues in business systems and identifying the underlying cause.
9. Prior experience of working in a comparable high-velocity technology business (SaaS, Fintech).
