What You'll Do
The Logistics and Product Lifecycle Specialist will be primarily responsible for all elements of destruction, including destruction plans and additionally logistics facilitation across the whole of VBSE including our projects and services.
Through critical investigation, review and ensure existing and continuing contracts for destruction, including HG secure destruction are current IAW NCSC, NPSA, Defence Logistics Framework and any other relevant and mandated policies. Where necessary, removal of old and the onboarding of new contractors. Maintenance of compliance documentation. In addition, be responsible for the thru-put of all VBSE logistics movements in a safe environment.
Key Accountabilities
* Managing, Reviewing and Assessing new and existing destruction methods and contracts against the mandatory requirements of the various agencies and 3rd party contractors. Accuracy of disposal plans and responsible disposal and consideration of Hazardous materials and the environment.
* Provision of specialist advice on the application of safety arrangements in all VBSE logistics areas and as required for H&S compliance and as required by the Defence Logistics Framework.
* Oversee Logistics movements, across all VBSE sites/destinations and ensuring NCSC, NPSA, DEFSTAN etc standards are adhered to during handling and storage.
* Own the day-to-day contact with all VBSE logistics suppliers e.g. ByBox, ICEE and approved commercial couriers.
* Ensure all VBSE logistics areas retain efficiency in storage, asset recording, delivery etc. Oversee and support VBSE requests for escorting assistance, undertaken by the logistics support role subject to manpower availability.
Who You Are
You will have a good level of knowledge and experience in HG, general destruction, and logistics. You are capable of working accurately and reliably with minimal supervision. Your expertise in these areas ensures that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Additionally, you will possess knowledge of the Integrated Logistics Support Structure, Defence Logistics Framework (formerly JSP 886), and DEFSTAN 00-600. This understanding is crucial for implementing the standards and procedures required in defence logistics, ensuring compliance and optimal performance.
You'll also have experience in controlling costs and managing within a budget, which is essential for maintaining financial stability and ensuring appropriate resource allocation. Again, your ability to manage budgets effectively helps in achieving project goals without overspending.
Furthermore, you will have experience working in a secure environment, ensuring that all protocols and procedures are followed to maintain security and confidentiality.
Security Clearance: This position requires the person to hold or to be eligible to undergo UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
