Leisure and Culture Dundee, in partnership with Dundee City Council, is looking to recruit an Active Schools Activity Inclusion Worker to join our successful Active Schools Team. This exciting role requires candidates to have the desire and commitment to use sport and physical activity to improve the lives of children and young people through the delivery of safe, fun sport and physical activity sessions.
As a valued member of the Active Schools Team, you will play a crucial role in empowering children to overcome barriers to participation in sport and physical activity. By designing and implementing a wide range of innovative initiatives, you will help increase children's engagement, involvement, and progression in school through sports and physical activities.
This position requires sports coaching experience, experience working with children with Additional Support Needs, and the ability to design and implement sport and physical activity programmes and events that meet the needs of target groups - children and young people who face barriers to participate in sports and physical activity.
Working 37 hours per week term time plus (43 weeks per year) within the Active Schools Team, located at various schools in Dundee. This is a 14-month fixed term post ending 31st March 2026. For existing Leisure and Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council employees, secondments will be considered. Line Manager approval should be sought prior to applying for a secondment.
Requirements
SVQ Level 3 in a Sport or physical activity related field and/or work-related experience.
Responsibilities

By designing and implementing a wide range of innovative initiatives, you will help increase children's engagement, involvement, and progression in school through sports and physical activities.
The Individual
Practical experience in sports coaching and organising participation programmes, events, and festivals is essential. You will have experience of organising participation programmes and supporting coaches or volunteers, as well as marketing and promoting activities/programmes. You should also have experience working with children and/or young people with additional needs.
You should have the ability to use a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Word. In addition, you will have good communication skills, both verbal and written, good presentation and people skills, and the ability to organise, be adaptable, diplomatic, and approachable. You must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekend work where required, and be willing to undertake personal development.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
