Job Description:
The Positive Behaviour Support will work directly with students with SEN, focusing particularly on behaviour issues in various settings including one-to-one, small group, and in-class support. This includes planned provision as well as responding to situations that arise on a day-to-day basis. The Positive Behaviour Support will promote values, attitudes, and good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging students to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
The role is responsible for implementing and supporting the College's Positive Behaviour Support for students on SEND & Re-engagement programmes policy and developing a highly effective base in the Sanctuary where restorative work, 1-2-1 and group work programmes can support students with future behaviour choices.
To be CPI MAPA trained and be on call to assist all Foundation teaching and support staff to implement positive behaviour support strategies as required for learners with complex needs.
To ensure learning and teaching resources within Foundation are ordered, created, and maintained in liaison with Foundation lecturers and the manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Under the guidance of the Director of Additional Needs & Inclusion, provide advice and support to all Foundation staff in relation to challenging behaviour and positive support strategies.
* Ensure all stages of CPI MAPA are implemented effectively prior to and during a crisis.
* Understand and comply with legislation and guidance in relation to Restrictive Physical Interventions.
* Promote excellent relationships with learners, teaching staff, parents/carers, or other professionals.
* Contribute to learner meetings as appropriate.
* Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to the formulation and review of Foundation learners' Individual Behaviour Support Plans.
* Provide 1-1 mentoring sessions in the Sanctuary for students within Foundation and across college who have been referred by ALS.
* Lead on the ordering and purchasing of Foundation curriculum resources.
* Liaise with Finance to ensure correct procedures for petty cash transactions.
* Ensure Independent Living resources within Foundation are fit for purpose.
* Check stock or food items regularly.
* Timely ordering of resources in liaison with lecturers and the manager.
Qualifications and Training:
* CPI MAPA trained or willingness to undertake qualification training.
* Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* - C, or equivalent) in maths and English or a willingness to attain these qualifications.
Skills and Expertise:
* Experience in managing challenging behaviour and applying positive behaviour management strategies.
* Experience in supporting learners with complex needs and ASD.
