About the company: Our high profile client in the Food industry is currently looking to recruit a Health & Safety Specialist to work at their busy site in Bournville.
Job Description
As Health & Safety Specialist your main responsibilities are:
1. Participate in investigations to facilitate closure of identified non-conformances and train the teams on what a quality investigation looks like.
2. Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow-ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents or asset losses that might cause harm to one of the company's employees, contractors, or property.
3. Ensure training and coaching are taking place to drive a safety-perfect culture and to ensure Health & Safety standards and awareness are well understood throughout the plant organization.
4. Be a lead for culture change and drive behavioural safety as a way of life across all levels of the site, including PLT.
5. Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position to lead ethically and model compliant behaviour, maintaining an environment where employees can speak up and raise issues.
6. Act as budget holder for safety - ensure financial targets are met.
Qualifications / Skills needed
1. Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and some experience of working with Governing Bodies (such as the HSE, EA or Local Authorities).
2. Demonstrates good process management and pragmatic business application of systems and functional principles and standards.
3. Understands the importance of building a good safety culture, working with key stakeholders to drive engagement across both core and non-core populations.
4. Dynamic, tenacious, and courageous.
5. Able to build relationships with key stakeholders and peers.
6. Able to communicate, present, and train others well.
7. Tech savvy with experience of Windows and an ability to adapt to other systems as and when required.
8. Demonstrated ability to create a motivational environment, driving a good health and safety culture.
9. Technical functional excellence in Health & Safety demonstrated through leadership.
Qualifications / Skills preferred
1. Demonstrated ability to develop passion, understanding, and capability for functional agenda in others in the business.
2. Strong change management skills.
3. Understanding of CDM and some project management skills would be preferable.
4. Experience in auditing on ISO 14001 and 18001 standards.
5. Underlying knowledge of Process Safety Management (such as ATEX, Chemical and Fire Risk Management).
