Role Overview:
As the Head of Department - Science Teacher, you will be responsible for leading and managing the science department, delivering high-quality science education, and inspiring students to develop their scientific skills and understanding. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum, overseeing extra-curricular activities, and promoting a culture of scientific excellence within the school. This role requires a dynamic and innovative educator with strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective science lessons to students at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
* Develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and the latest educational standards.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.
* Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
* Provide constructive feedback to support students' scientific and academic growth.
* Organize and oversee science-related events, competitions, and extra-curricular activities.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in a scientific discipline.
* Proven experience teaching science at secondary level, with a track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
* Strong knowledge of the science curriculum and current educational practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
* Strong leadership and management skills.
