Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Principal Cardiac Physiologist for the Medicine and urgent care department. We are looking for someone who will lead thesuccessful delivery of a highly specialist clinical service performing a range of cardiac investigations and therapeutic techniques. This role will need you toprovide advice and leadership on service provision and implement evidence-based changes to practice, having direct involvement in the evaluation of new techniques and equipment for safety, cost-effectiveness, and benefits related to practice. You will provide leadership and advise on strategic direction of Cardiac diagnostic services by contributing to the Directorate/ Trust Strategic Plan.

Job responsibilities
You will have financial responsibility for:
1. an annual staff / non-staff budget of over 2 million pounds
2. contributing to financial initiatives for the department
3. involvement with the equipment tendering process
4. authorised signatory for the purchase of stock and non-stock items / staff
You will be responsible for service delivery across PHUT and CDC (currently housed at St Marys Portsmouth)

Qualifications
Essential
5. BSc Clinical Physiology degree or equivalent.
6. BHRS / BSE or relevant professional accreditation with significant experience in a specialist area of Cardiac Diagnostics.
Desirable
7. HCPC / RCCP registration is desirable. (Voluntary at current time)
8. Holds a recognised higher management and leadership qualification.
Experience
Essential
9. Expert specialist theoretical and practical knowledge in a range of specialist Cardiac procedures
10. Demonstrates proven leadership experience.
11. A detailed understanding of the cardiac physiology profession at a national level.
Desirable
12. A broad understanding of current NHS national and local strategies and policies
13. Experience of changing practice aimed at improved service provision.
