JOB SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible to the Head of Catering and have leadership responsibility for the effective strategic and operational management and delivery of the Retail and Restaurant services across the UHB. This will include:
* Responsibility for the Restaurant facilities at UHW and Llandough;
* Responsible for the Aroma outlets across the UHB;
* Responsible for the roll out and delivery of the UHB Click and Collect Service
* Assist in the management, when required, of;
Central Food Processing Unit
Ward based catering
* Providing strategic input into Catering services;
The post holder will be responsible for:
Ensuring the UHB provides a Retail and Restaurant service that is safe, whilst optimising the opportunities to provide high quality customer focused services.
Assisting in ensuring the Catering strategies meet the requirements of the UHBs Clinical Strategy.
Liaising closely with UHB dieticians and nutritionists to ensure a healthy safe product is provided.
Assist in cross-organisation projects and change initiatives that support delivery of the Service Board objectives.
Be the lead operational specialist through the provision of specialist, expert, professional, technical advice in relation to Restaurant and Retail outlets.
The delivery of a wide range of cost efficiency measures including energy, waste, etc. including delivering the services, within delegated budgets.
Assist in the priority-based catering service being in place on a 24/7 basis in order that ward / department services provided to patients, staff and visitors are prompt and service quality is maintained.
The strategic planning and development of the restaurant and retail services and the provision of advice and planning in menu development across the UHB.
The effective delivery of the restaurant and retail services, ensuring the provision of a high quality, value for money / profitable service, in a safe and compliant environment for the UHBs patients, staff and visitors.
Ensuring that the associated contracts, within restaurant and retail are optimised effectively to deliver excellent ratings from our internal and external customers.
Ensuring that the development and implementation of restaurant and retail production policies, procedures and systems are fully integrated with the UHBs policies, processes and values.
Ensuring the UHB is compliant with its statutory requirements for retail and restaurant services and with national and local targets.
Assist in reviewing all catering, but specific onerous on retail and restaurant services by benchmarking or other appropriate means to ensure the most efficient method of provision is implemented for operational services.
Providing professional leadership and ensuring effective staff development across the central food processing unit.
Provide and specialise in marketing advice and product placement to optimise the use of space in a retail led environment.
