Description
The purpose of this role is to provide engineering support within the maintenance team and be responsible for the maintenance and repair of site premises, production machinery and equipment in a fast-paced heavy industrial steel environment.
This multi-skilled role requires a wide scope approach, which, amongst other areas will evolve working on electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Working Hours
* 7:30am – 4:15pm Monday to Thursday
* 7:30am – 1pm Fridays
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine, preventative and corrective maintenance
* Diagnose, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions/failures
* Be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic & hydraulic systems and equipment on site.
* Identify opportunities for improvement of equipment reliability, efficiency, sustainability and safety.
* Provide technical support to the production team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Apprentice trained, mechanical and electrical qualifications ideally NVQ Level 3 equivalent or higher
* Previous experience in the heavy industrial engineering manufacturing environment
* Has a hands-on approach and a commitment to safety and quality
* Comfortable working at heights (IPAF License desirable)
* Actively support continuous improvement activities throughout the business
* Is highly motivated and has the ability to work well under pressure
* Previous experience and knowledge of slitters, de-coilers and traverse machinery
* Create planned maintenance schedules for machinery and be responsible for implementation of them
* Able to control, order and organise spare parts for machinery
* Will liaise and work alongside external contractors where necessary
* Has previous fabrication experience e.g. welding
