About the role Environmental Health plays a vital role in protecting the health, environment and safety of our growing City. Our team of dedicated professionals are responsible for environmental protection and public health programs, development compliance, regulatory and animal services. To respond to the needs of our growing community an opportunity exists in Council’s Environmental Health section for a motivated, suitably qualified and experienced person to join our Team on a temporary full-time basis for a period up to December 2026. The successful applicant will become an integral member of the Environmental Health section on a temporary full-time basis and will be responsible for a broad range of environmental health duties. The primary duties include, but are not limited to: food premises surveillance and the delivery of information at Council run food safety education seminars, regulated premises monitoring (cooling towers and skin penetration inspections), investigation and resolution of environmental health complaints, pollution investigations and enforcement procedures, environmental health assessment of development applications, OSSM assessment and inspections and the development of environmental health policies and procedures. Note: This position may be asked to work within both the Environment and Health Teams dependent on operational needs. How to Apply Essential criteria A tertiary qualification degree in Environmental Health or a related field; Experience in the investigation and resolution of a range of environmental and public health matters in a local government setting; A demonstrated working knowledge of the relevant public health and environmental legislation in NSW including, the Local Government Act, 1993, the Protection of the Environment Operations Act, 1997, Food Act 2003, Food Safety Standards and the Public Health Act 2010; Demonstrated conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving skills; Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; and A current Class C Driver Licence Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $90,063.00 to $104,251.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
