As a HV/MV Electrical Design Engineer:
* Level 8 degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
* Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in medium to high-voltage system design.
* Knowledge of Irish market practices and codes is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in designing HV/MV switchgear and control/protection systems.
* Strong knowledge of LVAC and DC systems in substation contexts.
* Familiarity with numerical protection relays and associated technologies.
* Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Eplan, or similar tools.
* Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to make informed decisions.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
* Full eligibility to work in Ireland.
* Familiarity with IEC standards is highly advantageous.
HV/MV Electrical Design Engineer Skills:
* Create detailed designs for HV/MV substations, including control and protection circuits, single-line diagrams, and logic tables.
* Prepare technical drawings and layouts for switchgear and electrical systems using tools like AutoCAD and Eplan.
* Design automation systems, encompassing network architecture, instrumentation, and supervisory systems.
* Perform electrical calculations, including protection studies, load flow analysis, and equipment sizing, using software such as Etap.
* Collaborate with field teams to ensure designs are constructible and maintainable.
* Develop Functional Design Specifications and ensure project designs align with client and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare tender, construction, and as-built documentation to support project timelines.
* Generate and maintain O&M manuals and project records in line with company ISO standards.
* Identify and resolve scope gaps in design and project documentation.
* Work closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
* Attend project meetings to monitor progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.
* Liaise with procurement teams to track material orders and deliveries.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant IEC standards, Irish grid codes, and safety regulations.
* Promote safe design practices and liaise with safety personnel to address compliance issues.
The Package:
Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least to €60,000 plus package.
