Position: STW Operations Manager Location: Charnwood Edge Business Park, Syston Rd, Cossington, Leicester LE7 4UZ Line Reporting Manager: STW General Manager Shift: Monday - Friday 07:00am - 15:00pm (1Hour Unpaid Lunch) 50hour contracted week. Principle Duties and Accountabilities: Direct, plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development to meet agreed organisational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales covering relevant areas of operation(s) for the Client and support General Manager Roles and Responsibilities: Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development. Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales in line with the logistics & Transport Department Manage and develop direct reporting staff. Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets. Liaise with other functional/departmental managers to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes and achievements. Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary operational development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers and staff within the organisation. Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in co-optation with the executive team & Contracts Manager(s) & General Manager. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal requirements, environmental policies and general duty of care. Execute the responsibilities of a company Manager according to lawful and ethical standards. Management of direct Staffing, Escalations, issues & concerns in line with GM & HR. Actively lead and support the policy and procedures and their implementation. Ensure that best practices are observed as laid down by statutory provisions, company procedures and codes of practice. To ensure that all levels of staff have the sufficient information, instruction and training to carry out their tasks Implement the Boards policies and strategies. Manage, motivate, develop and lead members of the transport team/immediate sub-ordinates Manage resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the companys objectives Chair review/operational meetings with Staff, Contractors & Client(s) in line with the Internal IMS procedures. Take a leadership role in establishing or developing the companys SHEQ culture and values & liaising with the SHEQ Team & General Manager. Ensure an IMS527 (audit) safety tour is carried out at least once month Ensure management are monitoring, reporting, recording and making SHEQ safety KPI data available and report to the Contracts Manager. Operations Managers are required to undertake incident management on behalf of the Client in the event of an operational incident requiring tankering and / or jetting support for the given region for which they have been appointed, attend and provide information to the Clients Incident team briefings. Manage, control, coordinate and take ownership of all contracted tanker / jetting vehicle movements required to service the operational incident Qualifications / Competency: CITB or IOSH Managing Safety SSMTS 3 - 5 years experience (minimum) Competent in use of MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Office Outlook Health & Safety: The Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) Section 2 General duties of employers to their employees: (1) It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees. To carry out at least 1 x IMS527 Senior Manager tour of either crew, depots, offices, workshops and contractors To report all health, safety and environmental incidents to the Head of SHEQW within 2 hours of it happening To ensure awareness of the company fire and first aid arrangements, and emergency evacuation procedure Direct and control operational manager/staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated, trained and developed. Ensure that they carry out their responsibilities safely and to the required standard. Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and safely.
