Technical Policy Manager

Salary – Circa £63,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits

We have a great opportunity for someone to join our team as a Technical Policy Manager within the wastewater area. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge and understanding of the operation of the wastewater service and the UK water industry regulatory framework. You will have a track record in strategic planning to effectively help lead delivery of our long-term strategies, mid-term asset management plans, and our regulatory business plan.
In this role, you will detail intervention options and benefits to deliver on our business goals ensuring that our asset management supports performance targets and compliance requirements. You’ll also be involved in leading innovative solutions, technical research, and advances in technologies that support the efficient delivery of our ambitious goals.
You’ll also lead horizon scanning and implementation of innovative solutions, technical research, and advances in technologies in support of our business objectives.
We’re looking for someone who can develop strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure our organisation remains at the forefront of best practice and innovation while raising the profile of NWG. You’ll be expected to represent NWG in industry working groups and collaborate with peers to shape strategies and plans that are supported, endorsed, and actionable by operations, investment delivery teams, and partners.
About you
We’re looking for you to have experience in strategic planning and asset management in large asset base organisations, along with proven experience of developing technical reports, policies, and strategies.
It’s also important that you have technical knowledge and understanding of the operation of the wastewater service and the UK water industry regulatory framework. It would be great if you had an understanding of the utility industry and external factors that can influence including political, economic, social, and technological issues.
You’ll have the ability to analyse and understand data sourced from multiple systems to provide an evidence base for decisions and actions.
You’ll have excellent communication skills and be motivated to achieving results. You’ll be able to manage a demanding workload and have a proven track record of solving problems and finding effective solutions in a fast-changing environment.
