About the Opportunity
We are currently looking for an Environmental Advisor to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington.
We are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
As a result of increasing demand for our services we are looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our SWMRF team in Warrington, providing expertise to the project to facilitate and deliver environmental management related matters to agreed strategies and timescales.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the project Environmental Manager, you will provide guidance and support on environmental management and waste management to the project team.
Responsibilities shall include (but not be limited to):
1. Assistance in the development and implementation of environmental and waste management plans and strategies.
2. Assist in the identification and management of environmental aspects, via the project environmental aspects register.
3. Support with development of the project Environment Case, and the demonstration of Best Available Techniques within environmental / waste assessments.
4. Delivery of bespoke environmental assessments and work packages across the project lifecycle.
5. Identification and management of environmental risks.
6. Provision of technical advice to the project team on regulatory compliance and other environmental matters, particularly in relation to compliance with Sellafield’s Environmental Permits.
7. Assist the environmental manager with environmental assurance, including the development and delivery of audits (for example, in direct relation to design and construction works).
8. Completion of environmental sustainability assessments and provision of evidence to support wider project sustainability goals, including contributions to PPP’s net zero ambitions.
Here's What You'll Need:
1. A degree in a relevant field such as environmental management, a relevant science, or engineering.
2. Membership of a relevant institution or professional body such as the Institute of Environmental Sciences.
3. Proven experience in environmental (including waste) management, delivered under a recognised environmental management system is crucial.
4. Evidence of engagement in ongoing training and development to stay updated with the latest environmental policies, regulations and procedures.
5. Evidence of working collaboratively within a project team.
6. Proven ability to produce clear concise written documents.
7. Familiarity with the Environmental Permitting Regulations, including Sellafield’s EPR permits.
8. Experience in demonstrating the application of Best Available Techniques in support of Environment Cases.
9. Experience of embedding sustainability within projects is also preferable, for example the application of BREEAM or other sustainability assessment methods.
