At Northern Powergrid, we’re looking for a Training & Development Manager to drive initiatives that enhance the non-operational engineering skills and capabilities across our organisation.
In this role, you’ll design and deliver initiatives for improving engineering skills and setting standards for what engineering excellence looks like across the Engineering directorate and wider organisation. As part of the Engineering senior team you will work with colleagues to identify capability needs, supporting talent development and engagement. ~ Identify training and development needs for improving engineering capability
Lead the development of, and support the delivery of, our non-operational technical training schemes and engineering courses
Deliver technical engineering training courses and coaching
Implement a framework for the ongoing assessment of competency across the engineering functions
Support and ensure consistency of recruitment within the Engineering directorate
Develop effective engineering induction for new colleagues
Develop and promote a network of mentors for technical coaching across the non-operational engineering functions
Operate an undergraduate engineering summer placement programme
Facilitate people development and engagement across the directorate
Lead on our engagement with the IET Power Academy and local universities, attracting students for sponsorship and employment
Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering principles, industry standards, and technical training methodologies relevant to power systems and distribution networks.
Ability to quickly learn and navigate organisational structures, identify key stakeholders, and effectively coordinate training and development initiatives
Level 6 qualification in an Engineering discipline
Coaching/Professional membership and/or Chartered /working towards Chartered status
Level 7 in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or, Masters of Engineering
Experience of asset management and power systems design within DNO environment
Understanding of industry regulatory environment
