This is an exciting opportunity to work as a practitioner in the local context, engaging youth through initiatives to meet need and ensure positive outcomes, as well as part of a team across the West Cynefin within the Wales Division, where you will invest in collaborative relationships with Divisional and local leaders to encourage and capitalise on existing Youth & Student ministry and to speak into new & emerging mission opportunities. The West Cynefin is the South & Mid-West Region of Wales currently containing expressions of the Salvation Army in Aberystwyth, Ammanford, Carmarthen, Gorseinon, Llanelli, Morriston, Neath, Swansea and Tenby. The Salvation Army ministers to physical and social as well as spiritual need and this role will work to encourage full participation of Youth & Students in the life of The Salvation Army with the goal to build communities of faith. Key Responsibilities: Work with the other expressions of The Salvation Army within the West Cynefin to lead the development of local youth & student outreach work aimed at significantly increasing the provision of youth & students work within the community. Design and deliver a range of innovative youth and student-centred community outreach, engagement and discipleship activities. Work co-operatively with schools, colleges, universities, youth statutory services and other community based and voluntary services, such as ecumenical networks. Communicate with and coordinate the partnering of corps leadership and divisional teams regarding the project’s development including recruiting and supporting local people to become volunteers and active leaders in the project. The successful candidate(s) will have:- A nationally recognised qualification in youth work or working towards it and/or good experience of working with youth in areas of discipleship and leadership. [Applicants with transferable/ relevant skills will be considered] Experience of mentoring & supporting young people & youth leaders Practical experience of developing community youth &/or student outreach projects, e.g. youth clubs, school based mentoring programmes, student chaplaincy and of developing and harnessing external partnership opportunities and relationships.
