Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service is made up of the Public Health Nursing Service (Health Visitors and School Nurses) and the Family Support Service. Our purpose is to support children and families to have the best start in life, develop well and thrive. We provide families with children aged up to 5 years with a wide range of services, information and support on key areas relating to family life.
As the Community Engagement & Volunteer Practitioner your role will be to support the Community Engagement Lead with all aspects of volunteering opportunities, including identifying gaps across local communities and work with local partners as instructed, to provide provision to these areas. You will also support with the development of volunteering, student and work experience placement opportunities in conjunction with the Locality Managers and Leads.
Responsibilities
• Assist the Community Engagement Lead in developing and implementing volunteering initiatives.
• Identify gaps in volunteering opportunities across local communities and ensure that resources are directed towards meeting these needs.
• Collaborate with local partners, organisations, and community groups to create new volunteer opportunities.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of volunteering programs, ensuring they meet the needs of the community.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with community groups, schools, and local businesses to facilitate volunteer placements and opportunities.
• You will assist with the smooth transition and onboarding of individuals into volunteer, student, and work placement programs, while providing ongoing support and addressing any issues or concerns during their placements.
Requirements
• This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to support community events or programs.
• Travel may be required to meet with local partners and stakeholders and attend events.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday (times to be agreed) with an occasional weekend
