Following recent career progressions, we are excited to announce fantastic opportunities for newly qualified and HCPC registered Occupational Therapists / return to practice OTs to join our team, with new rotational areas.
You will need to be a reflective practitioner with good communication skills and the ability to manage your own caseload.
You will have the opportunity to experience 8-month rotations across a range of clinical areas: acute Stroke, Medical/surgical, Elective & trauma/orthopaedics, Children's (community), Neighbourhood Team (community), Discharge to Assess (community), Hospital @ Home urgent response (community), community neuro and wheelchair services, and the independent living service.
The team is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based, reflective practice and prides itself on a comprehensive supportive supervision structure, including a developed Preceptorship Programme following the RCOT Career Development Framework, along with the Trust-wide preceptorship program for nursing and AHPs. We benefit from an experienced and committed team of Occupational Therapy Technical Instructors and Assistant Practitioners.
Main duties of the job
To work across the Trust in a range of in-patient and community settings, including the independent living services with Herefordshire Council - which also comprises the home improvement agency and technology-enabled living team, including major adaptation works.
To be responsible for independently managing your own patient caseload without direct day-to-day supervision, depending on your level of experience, demonstrating clinical autonomy.
Weekend working is involved for some of the rotations as part of our commitment to developing a 7-day service. You will be expected to work at the weekends as part of a rota once you have completed appropriate competencies and training.
There are strong links between acute and community teams, and our Preceptorship Programme is run across the Trust. All Band 5 staff are encouraged to participate in a Band 5 Peer group.
About us
Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT, the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster, and Ross-on-Wye.
We are a progressive and forward-looking trust with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways through close collaborative working with our partners to deliver the quality of care we'd want for our family and friends.
More than 3,500 people work for the Trust - they tell us it's a great place to work, blending the busyness of a DGH with the benefits of working in a beautiful rural and unspoilt county like Herefordshire.
We can offer a great work-life balance and have a fine tradition of working with staff to help them achieve their full potential.
Our values - Care, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence - are at the heart of all we do. We believe in providing the right care in the right place at the right time...all the time.
