The Business Intelligence Specialist - Acute Provider Collaborative will be an integral member of the team delivering Single Managed Services and the Hospital Group BI Cloud environment prototype across NBT and UHBW. The role will collaborate closely with the Single Managed Services management teams and our technical partner CACI, and will lead on the reporting solutions.
Lead on Reporting Matters:
* Oversee all reporting activities related to Single Managed Services (SMS) by working closely with Programme Managers and stakeholders within the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC).
* Be an integral part of the APC management team, with accountability for all BI work streams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operations.
Deliver Reporting Solutions:
* Lead the design and implementation of reporting solutions using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Power BI, and Excel. Collaborate with Programme Managers to establish data requirements and expectations to ensure effective data delivery.
* Act as the lead business knowledge expert in the design and implementation of the Hospital Group BI Cloud prototype. Collaborate with BI colleagues at NBT and UHBW, and our technical service partners CACI to establish data requirements for the programme of work.
Design BI Process Guides:
* Develop and implement BI process guides to support Programme Managers. These guides should streamline processes and ensure reports are delivered efficiently and on time.

BI Specialist – Senior member and Manager within the Business Intelligence Department.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Informatics Business Intelligence, the post holder will:
• Lead or assist on all matters related to Information.
• Be responsible for developing and delivering a customer focused service which enables the Trust to operate efficiently and confidently using high quality information to support the business and clinical decisions as they are made.
• Have team leader responsibility for a range of functions within the Business Intelligence Department which may include: information management, reporting and business intelligence (including data warehouse and data quality assurance).
• Have responsibility for operational management of service delivery within the BI teams, to deliver and maintain a high performing expert service capable of supporting all the information requirements of the Trust.
• Take a role in delivering solutions on all matters related to information, supporting the clinical and non-clinical services whilst contributing to an evolving positive information and knowledge culture.
• Proactively lead improvements to data quality within the Trust, assisting Directorates to manage the quality of data, supporting a position of high levels of confidence in the integrity of information and analysis supplied by BI. In addition, the post holder will also pre-empt and work with others in resolving issues, impacting the quality of information.
• Adopt a customer focused approach aligned to the Trust’s business needs (under the leadership and guidance of the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence).
Education/Training/Qualifications
* University Degree in mathematics, statistics, computing, healthcare informatics or an equivalent degree or work experience
* Evidence of continuing studies or professional development
Work Experience
* Significant working experience in the NHS, with several years in the acute sector in informatics, with an in-depth understanding of the NHS Information data sets, NHS information flows, and the NHS structure
* Significant experienced in data interrogation using SQL, developing data queries for analysis and reporting
* Significant experience and understanding in providing external reports in areas related to inpatients, outpatients, A&E, diagnostics, performance activity waitlist (e.g. 18 week waits), etc. for Sitreps, NICE, CQC, NHS England, CCG, CSU, and various other agencies requiring reports.
* Experience with data ware housing in terms of design, structure and technologies.
* Experience of Project Management work
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Expert level proficiency in SQL
* Proven high level analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to think beyond boundaries, and using own expert knowledge, consider different approaches and solutions to Information requirements from the Trust, resolving conflicting approaches.
* Significant knowledge of the NHS data model and data sets specifically related to the Acute Trusts
* Ability to communicate complex and sensitive financial and reporting information to a wide group of people/staff, clinical and non-clinical, at all levels, internally & externally to help explain the ramifications of Information reports or approaches, and develop solutions, in sometimes difficult situations.
* Knowledge in design and development of data warehousing
