Global manufacturing engineering business requires a Buyer to support direct procurement activity for manufacturing. Applicants should be outgoing, self-motivated professionals with a background in procurement as a Buyer.
The Buyer will join a large and supportive procurement team enjoying a period of growth. Procurement activity will focus on direct commodity areas for manufacturing. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, so the Buyer will collaborate closely with the supply chain to ensure continuity of supply to achieve OTD/OTIF and production schedules.
Specific duties of the Buyer will include:
1. Review, confirm availability and process purchase requisitions
2. Liaison with internal departments - Production, Engineering, Shopfloor etc.
3. End-to-end supplier order book management
4. Using MRP data and supplier data held in MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, formulas) to assess performance
5. Supplier Performance Management - develop underperforming suppliers, recovery plans, reviews etc.
6. Review supplier contracts to ensure SLAs are met in regards to quality, cost, delivery etc.
7. Escalate and expedite material shortage issues and produce reports regarding shortages/supplier performance etc.
8. Identify and qualify new suppliers for ad-hoc requirements
9. Drive productivity opportunities with the supply base to deliver cost-out goals
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Purchasing/procurement experience as a Junior Buyer, Buyer or Senior Buyer
2. Supplier management skills and the ability to manage supplier accounts and order books
3. Data analysis skills - comfortable using data to drive procurement decision-making, particularly MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup formulas)
4. An appreciation of quality considerations and traceability when conducting procurement activity
5. MRP literate
6. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and motivated team players
