Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnered with a high-growth entrepreneurial business in Lanarkshire to appoint the newly created role of Group Accountant. The business has 10x in size in the last 4 years through a combination of M&A activity and organic growth. Reporting to the Head of Reporting, this represents an opportunity to join a hugely successful business at a key point in its growth trajectory.
This business has a demonstrable track record of developing staff, and it is foreseen that the appointed individual will have the opportunity to grow with the business and develop a wide variety of skills in the role.
Ideally, we are looking to engage with individuals who qualified in big 4 / mid-tier audit and have since gained some post-qualification experience within an industry setting. My client is looking for people who know their way around a set of accounts but also possess the interpersonal skills/commercial acumen to deal with non-financial stakeholders and produce meaningful MI to influence business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensuring adequate planning and compliance with statutory returns and accounting regulations. Including, but not limited to, areas of VAT, Corporation Tax, R&D and intragroup trading.
* Supporting with the reviews and publishing of annual reports and policies.
* Consolidation of the monthly management accounts – P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow Statement. Handling the removal of intragroup revenue, debtors and creditors for accurate reporting to the Board and stakeholders.
* Consolidation of Group cashflow forecasts, performing Net Working Capital reviews and analysis to support Group short and long-term objectives including investments, budgeting and expenditure.
* Reporting Balance Sheet trends and analysis and ownership of performing quarterly reviews with stakeholders.
* Ensuring documentation is in place over the internal controls and assisting with the collation of SAO return documentation.
* Monitoring compliance within any banking or funding covenants set and ensuring that these are considered as part of the budgeting and forecasting cycles.
* Oversight of the Invoice Financing month-end reconciliations, reviewing reconciliations ahead of submission and forecasting the cashflow impact on any expected movements.
* Support on interim and year-end audit preparation to ensure a clean audit for the businesses.
* Exposure to the Commercial team and their monthly reporting packs. Ability to interrogate their commentary and outlooks.
* Play a pivotal role in budgeting and forecasting activities, this will include P&L, balance sheet and cash availability projections.
* Lead continuous improvement in the business, seeking to maximise efficiency and timeliness of reporting.
* Working collaboratively with various departments, supporting the business with ad-hoc costing and financial support where required.
