Are you a Veterinary Surgeon looking for a fulfilling and exciting opportunity? Join one of the UK’s oldest independent veterinary practices, established in 1873, and renowned for its excellent reputation and loyal, happy client base. Originally a purpose-built equine practice, it has evolved into a thriving small animal clinic. The team is now seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to become part of their close-knit family.
Located in the stunning cathedral city of St Albans, Hertfordshire, this practice offers the perfect blend of history and modern convenience. St Albans is well known for its historic buildings, Roman attractions, and picturesque streets that have stood the test of time. With London just 20 minutes away by train and excellent shops, bars, and restaurants locally, it’s no surprise that this city is consistently ranked among the happiest places to live in the UK.
This is an independent practice where the health and welfare of pets are the top priorities, free from corporate targets or pressures. While the practice is small, it is busy, making it an ideal environment for someone who enjoys staying active and values a good work/life balance. The facilities are well-equipped, including ultrasound, dental x-ray, and an in-house laboratory, ensuring you have all the tools you need to provide top-quality care.
You’ll be joining a supportive and experienced team made up of two Veterinary Surgeons, one Head Veterinary Nurse, one Registered Veterinary Nurse, two Student Veterinary Nurses, and a Client Care Assistant. The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with solid experience in routine procedures and the confidence to handle sole charge when required. An interest in surgery or imaging would be particularly welcome, as this is not a consult-only role.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a practice that genuinely prioritises patient care and fosters a supportive team environment. If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, don’t wait – this role won’t be available for long.

* No OOH
The Benefits:
* Excellent salary up to £60,000 DOE
