Fourble are seeking a driven and dynamic Commercial Manager to join a leading Utility Contractor. With over 20 years of experience, they’ve established a reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative services, and their commitment to customer satisfaction has enabled them to build strong relationships with some of the UK's most recognised brands in the utility sector. Reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a key role within the business, offering a unique opportunity to lead, influence, and shape the commercial landscape of a growing company in the utility sector.
Responsibilities of the Commercial Manager:
* Lead and manage the Quantity Surveyor team and procurement function, ensuring efficient operations and collaboration
* Provide commercial support on work winning and estimating processes, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing
* Offer valuable commercial input into customer contracts to protect and enhance the company’s position
* Develop and implement robust supplier/subcontractor contract conditions, ensuring alignment with company standards and values
* Establish the framework for procurement engagement with subcontractors, in line with our procurement operating model
* Manage the monthly valuations process effectively, ensuring clear and accurate reporting of revenue and liabilities
* Take the lead in managing commercial disputes, working closely with the Managing Director to ensure timely and favourable outcomes
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring customer satisfaction
Criteria for the Commercial Manager:
* Proven experience in a commercial management or similar senior role, ideally within ICP, IDNO or construction sectors
* Degree educated within Quantity Surveying or a similar field
* Exceptional commercial acumen, with a strategic approach to problem-solving
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, particularly when dealing with customers and subcontractors
* A deep understanding of procurement processes, subcontractor management, and commercial contract terms
* Ability to manage complex commercial disputes and make decisive contributions to resolving challenges
