We are looking for an experienced full or part time Practice Nurse to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for our 9000 patients. We are a well-regarded high achieving town centre practice. We believe in supporting and maintaining a good work/life balance for our staff.
The post is ideally full time although part time or job share will be considered.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced practice nurse with excellent knowledge in the following areas:
* Asthma
* COPD
* Immunisations and injections
* Cervical Cytology
* Contraception

Job responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
1. Deliver effective management of patients with chronic diseases as detailed by the Quality Outcomes Framework by implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines.
2. Work with patients to support compliance with, and adherence to, prescribed treatments.
3. Wound care/ulcer care/removal of sutures.
4. Health promotion.
5. ECGs.
6. Venepuncture.
7. Blood pressure/hypertension reviews.
8. Routine adult and child injections and immunisations/travel immunisations.
9. Women’s health checks including contraception, sexual health and cervical cytology.
10. Adherence to infection control policies.
11. To take responsibility for own professional development and undertaking training for specific clinical tasks.
12. Attend mandatory training courses and updates and any study days as appropriate to the post.
13. Participate in yearly appraisal, personal development plan and revalidation.
14. Support the implementation of evidence-based guidelines in conjunction with the practice nursing team.
15. Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
16. Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.
17. Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by NMC.
18. Produce accurate and complete records of patients’ consultations, consistent with legislation policies and procedures.
19. Prioritise, organise, and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality.
20. Undertake opportunistic screening when required.
21. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients.
22. Recognise the signs of child abuse, addictive behaviours, suicidal tendencies and be aware of local referral procedures.
23. Apply infection control measures when collecting and handling laboratory specimens. Disposing of waste materials, dealing with blood and body fluids spillages and report and treat sharps injuries.
24. Undertake management of emergencies i.e., burns, haemorrhage, hypo/hyperglycaemic emergencies, asthma attacks.
25. Undertake annual training and demonstrate competency in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques.
26. Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
27. Apply practice policies, standards, and guidance.

Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post registration experience
* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working in a health care setting
* Adherence to the need of strict confidentiality
* Experience in recording and maintaining accurate clinical information using templates
* Experience in similar role
* Practice nursing NHS / Primary Care General Practice experience
* Experience in SystmOne computer system
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse.
* Good standard of education with good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Wound management trained.
* Recognised qualification/training of Chronic diseases.
* Asthma/COPD/Diabetes.
* Cervical Cytology trained.
* Vaccination and Immunisation trained.
