Our client is looking for an experienced Software Development Director to lead and manage business-as-usual software team of approximately 20 people. The current focus of software development is on the delivery of high-performance desktop applications, with plans to expand into mobile and web. Responsibilities:
1. Accountability over the software team, including staffing, oversight, development, and delivery of software products
2. Provides leadership and oversight of departmental structure, recruitment, talent development, succession planning, and addressing organizational gaps and risks
3. Responsible for putting together a software roadmap that meets the business needs, and the ability to run a multi-dimensional software department to deliver concurrent projects
4. Responsible for ensuring that the software team has a clear strategy, mission, and goals
5. Responsible for creating an environment and culture that fosters team commitment and employee engagement
Key skills:
6. Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization (upward, downward, and across) with the appropriate message, tone, and level of impact
7. Ability to Build and foster supportive partnerships with other departments to deliver on long-term roadmaps
8. Build a working environment where people can play to their strengths and maximize results
9. Extensive experience as a Software Director level working with med-large scale teams
10. Familiar with different types of software development methodologies (e.g. agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, etc.)
