Job Summary
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 clinical lead nurse fixed term/secondment to cover maternity leave for a period of 12 months. This role is situated within York and Selby Adult Community Learning Disability team based at Systems House in York.
The post holder will work towards supporting the health, psychological, emotional and behaviour needs of adults with a learning disability, working systemically within a full Multi-Disciplinary Team and with individuals, family members, carers and wider external partners.
The team is friendly, supportive and value driven and we hold a strong ethos on working collectively in partnership with our service users, families and carers to provide high quality healthcare within the community.
Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will need to have a genuine desire to improve the physical, mental health and well-being of adults with learning disability and behaviours that challenge. They will work as part of an MDT delivering high quality secondary care and enhancing the community services, working with individuals who require specialist interventions using trauma informed care & a recovery-based approach.
The successful candidate must be motivated, flexible, able to communicate effectively and will be expected to be able to travel independently to various locations within the York and Selby area.
Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.
There is extensive supervision streams and appraisal processes in situ within the trust.

Job Responsibilities
The post holder will be enthusiastic and deliver a quality service and ensure the individual is at the centre of their care ensuring they are fully involved in all aspects of assessment, planning and care and treatment as appropriate, including being professionally and legally accountable.
The service is looking for a motivated and forward-thinking nurse as part of the secondment opportunity. You must be able to coordinate care and should be able to work well independently as well as part of a wider team.
The team covers a Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm service. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload under the supervision of senior nursing colleagues, providing assessment, treatment, advice and support to clients, carers and other professionals.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council - RNMH or RNLD
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
* Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months
Experience Essential
* 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework)
* Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
* Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
* Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Quality improvement activities
Knowledge Essential
* Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
* Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
* Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
* Clinical Governance and its application in practice
* Research and development methodology
* Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment
* Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
