The Role

The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience working in menswear essential
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective dialogue with internal teams and suppliers.
* Knowledge of working directly with factories and with agents
* Supplier experience preferred.
* Expert knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing
* Ability to work under pressure and to key deadlines on the Critical Path
* Able to document and give clear concise technical comments to factories.
* Excellent recall of style names and product history
* Familiar with working to and managing Critical Path dates.
* An excellent team player who has the confidence to contribute to the team and wider business
Responsibilities
Product Quality
* To deliver products that reflect our high brand values and aesthetics.
* Work with the Design and Product Development teams to ensure that all specifications assigned to the products are adequate in order to achieve the highest level of quality.
* Monitor quality standards and minimum make of product quality at all stages of prototyping development.
* Ensure the brand’s products are safe and legally compliant with all appropriate legislation in the territories that we trade with.
* Review factory QC reports and sign off production inspection results.
* Carry out inspections on delivered bulk production when needed.
* Provide assistance to internal teams on sizing, returns and any other technical information required.
* Alongside the Design and Product teams, ensure all products are fit for purpose and in line with the brands quality standards.
* Ensure that all new products, techniques and/or material combination are evaluated and tested to adhere to the Brand’s quality standards.
Product Development:
* Support the Senior Technologist to manage size specifications library for all styles.
* Support the Design and Product Development teams to ensure styling and aesthetic objectives align with performance, quality, and cost.
* Ensure that samples match the information on the BOM.
* Maintain the GT Sample Tracker daily and review with Production team biweekly to ensure critical path dates are adhered to.
* To technically develop products from initial prototype to production, including measuring garments and fitting.
* Responsible for creating and updating detailed measurement charts for each product category.
* Ensure that measurement specification, fit, size and grading of product are consistent across all suppliers and assigned product categories.
* Ensure that standard measurement information and comments are clearly documented and sent to suppliers.
* Manage fit process including model scheduling, room booking, sample and comments preparation for efficiency and to also ensure garment construction, measurements and overall fit is consistent with brand and established product block.
* Lead proto, SMS and Sealing fits by working closely with the design and product teams to ensure the interpretation is as accurate as possible.
* Review size sets for accuracy of measurements, including reviewing artwork placement and proportions.
Supplier and Process Management
* Liaise directly with the Suppliers to communicate product fit, quality and make comments and follow up to ensure they are understood and executable.
* Ensure that suppliers have clear information on sampling requirements, measurement guides and minimum construction.
* Create mutually beneficial supplier relationships to effectively drive improvement in quality.
* Ensure that communication with suppliers is carried out in a clear and timely manner.
* Ensure that suppliers are aware of the critical path dates so that prototypes are delivered according to the seasonal calendar.
* Ensure the critical path is met and highlight any instances where this is at risk.
Product Workmanship
* Ensure manufacturing standards are the most appropriate and that construction methods are used are appropriate to the products’ intended end use.
* Establish the manufacturing standards through the prototype approval processes.
* Improve and drive innovative technical solutions to improve product quality, cost and speed of delivery.
* Identify and document any construction details or sewing methods that need to be communicated to the product (apparel and/or accessories) suppliers.
