James Lewis are currently assisting a key client in their search for an Electrical Project Manager to join an M&E Contractor who has been well established for over 23 years.
As a privately owned Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor, they provide services across Design & Build, full M&E services, HVAC, IT infrastructures, CCTV, security, access control, and fire alarms. The company has been founded upon sound practices, quality installations, and working closely with their clients on a range of projects which include commercial, education, MOJ/custodial, residential, healthcare, and data centres, ranging in value up to £20m.
The project involves the refurbishment of an existing custodial centre near Oxford, which was last used in 2018. The redevelopment forms part of the government plans to provide safe, secure, and fit-for-purpose detained accommodation for those awaiting removal from the UK. Due to the nature of the building, there are various elements to it, including accommodation, a medical centre, sports facilities/gymnasium, educational facilities, catering areas, and a library, with a total M&E value in the region of £20m. The scheme went live in April 2024 and is due for completion in August of this year, so they are looking to add to the team to help get it over the line. However, once completed, they will look to move you onto a new project either in Cambridge or London.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate successful delivery of electrical projects ideally up to £6m.
2. Be responsible for designing the programme and delivering it in a timely manner.
3. Procurement & labour forecasting.
4. Manage the finances and variation accounts, health and safety, as well as providing a snag-free delivery.
5. Be client-facing and comfortable with client liaison/being the main point of contact.
6. Ensure successful handover with final accounts and that all O&Ms are completed.
7. Demonstrate a proven track record in managing sub-contractors and their delivery.
The client is keeping an open mind around day rates, but they are likely to be in the region of £350 - £380/day CIS. Please note that previous experience on UK-based projects is essential in order to be considered.
