We are recruiting for a Nightshift Security Officer for a client of ours based in the centre of Newcastle. The role is to start as soon as possible for a minimum of 3 months, but this could be extended for the right candidate. 37 hours per week, performing a shift pattern of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 2 off (all nightshifts). Shifts hours are 19:00 - 07:00. Pay rate: £12.73 per hour. A SIA Door Supervisor licence is required alongside a full valid UK drivers' licence. Please note that this role is unsuitable for students due to the rolling rota. General Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties will vary occasionally; the following list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive. Crime Prevention Patrols and Emergency Response - providing at the appropriate level, crime prevention advice to victims or potential victims of crime, including reporting of any issues/defects which affect the safety and security of people and property. Conducting foot and mobile patrols in order to prevent crime, vandalism/damage to property and breaches of the peace, including: a) Surveillance activity (including the use of CCTV) b) Building checks c) Identify hazards/problems Car parking and traffic control within the University including the application of car parking regulations. Ensuring the access of emergency and other essential service vehicles at all times. Marshalling and crowd control duties in connection with events and activities of the University. Escort duties including cash and valuables. Use of Information Technology and various computing packages, including the Security database. Providing reports, statements and other records, including giving evidence in court, as may be required in connection with the performance of their duties. The post holder is responsible for the health and safety of him (or her) self and of any persons who may be affected by his/her actions or non-action e.g., staff, students, suppliers, clients, anyone visiting the areas for which he/she is responsible etc. Carry out any routine task necessary for Health, Safety and Wellbeing of student's staff and visitors. This will include identifying and making safe hazards, including the clearing of ice and snow, utilising any equipment associated with the task Any other duties within the scope of the grade as required by the Department / Line Manager. To respond to occurrences in Halls of Residences, which will include, flood, lock out, re-setting trip switches, making safe spillages or mess out of hours and response to fire alarm activations. To assist in all matters to do with the general wellbeing, safety, security and conduct of residents.
