* Location: Sheffield (This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office)

Connected by Water is an alliance comprising the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, City of Doncaster Council, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Sheffield City Council, the Environment Agency, and Yorkshire Water, working together to build flood resilience and respond to the climate emergency.

Key Responsibilities
As Communication & Engagement Manager you’ll evolve and deliver a comprehensive, strategic approach to communications and engagement for Connected by Water. This will include developing a communications and engagement plan and programme of projects and events, addressing all stakeholders of the partnership to achieve the Connected by Water vision, and supporting the partnership as it evolves.
Other responsibilities include:
* Leadership and oversight of all communication and engagement activities for the partnership including developing marketing and awareness campaigns, using appropriate communication channels, liaising with media, events, product launches, and consultations and engagement.
* Ensure content produced for media channels is professionally produced and to a high standard.
* Build strong relationships with external suppliers, partners, or contractors.
* Develop strategic relationships with communications and engagement specialists across the partner organisations and beyond.
* Increase visibility of Connected by Water through promoting the brand and marketing the work of the partnership to influence funding, support, and awareness.
* Driving forward public facing work to increase awareness and resilience of communities and businesses to flooding and climate change.
* Oversight of budget for the communications and engagement work.
* Line management of the Communications and Engagement Coordinator.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You’ll have a strong background in communications and engagement with proven experience of implementing longer-term strategies and programmes. Ideally, you’ll have a good understanding of the South Yorkshire Region and the political climate with knowledge of flood risk management.
We’d love to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
* Experience evaluating a strategy or communications and engagement programme and identifying learning for the future.
* Experience co-creating and delivering priority messages through communications and engagement activities.
* Experience of engaging and communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of organising both in person and online events.
* Ability to develop and grow a compelling brand for a programme, project or initiative with a strong audience focus.
* Confident and decisive in setting priorities and leading across boundaries to deliver impactful communication and engagement activities.
* Experienced people leader with the ability to influence teams outside of direct management control.
* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to produce high quality content that is clear and engaging for a variety of audiences using a range of media, including social media.
* An eye for detail and accuracy, strong writing skills and ability to create engaging content in line with strategic objectives.
