Are you an experienced Engineering Supervisor looking to take on a leadership role within a dynamic and essential healthcare environment? Sodexo Health and Care are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Engineering Supervisor to join our team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
In this role you will be responsible for delivering Hard FM Services in line with the PFI Contract, ensuring smooth operations and compliance. You will also be expected to maintain a strong understanding of the client relationships between the SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle), NHS Trust, and Sodexo Management and colleagues, fostering effective collaboration and communication.
As an integral member of the management team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe operation of all plant and equipment on-site. You will oversee the effective delivery of the Planned Preventative Maintenance Service, while also providing support for reactive maintenance during normal operating hours. Additionally, you will assist in delivering emergency reactive maintenance services outside of regular operating hours, ensuring continuous and efficient operations.
Successful candidates will need to have relevant qualifications together with consistent experience in a similar environment. With extensive experience in building services and plant engineering, you will bring a strong knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM) and a deep understanding of Health and Safety qualifications, including COSHH and Permit to Work Regulations. Your expertise will extend to interpreting Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) and ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations. In addition, you will play a key role in providing training, offering technical advice, and delivering essential support to both the team and other departments, contributing to the ongoing development and success of the operation.

Main Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
* Lead and supervise both directly employed and contracted staff, ensuring smooth coordination of engineering operations.
* Act as the point of contact for plant or equipment failures, organizing repairs and emergency isolations as needed.
* Ensure compliance with KPIs by allocating staff and resources effectively for repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Support the CAFM/Compliance Manager in prioritizing repair work and managing maintenance activities efficiently.
* Monitor and assist staff in performing complex fault-finding, repairs, and maintenance across a range of systems, including HVAC, medical gases, electrical systems, and more.
* Ensure all maintenance work adheres to statutory regulations, health and safety requirements, and quality standards.
* Oversee staff training, development, and appraisals to maintain a high level of competence and motivation.
* Take a leading role in maintaining health and safety standards and managing risk assessments for all engineering activities.

Ideal Candidate
Qualifications/Education:
* Educated to HNC level or equivalent in an engineering or building discipline.
* Incorporated Engineer Status.
* Appropriate professional management qualification.
* Member of a relevant Professional Body (, IET, CIBSE, IWFM).
* Recognised Health & Safety qualification (, IOSH, NEBOSH).
* Trade Qualifications in Electrical/Mechanical fields.
* Qualified to Authorised Person to HTM standards across all disciplines .
Experience:
* Significant experience in managing building services and plant engineering, including fault finding, repairs, and maintenance.
* Experience with managing a team of engineers and contractors, ensuring productivity and quality of work.
* Proven experience in the effective delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance services.
* Experience in managing maintenance activities across critical systems such as HVAC, electrical, medical gases, fire alarm systems, and more.
* Experience in liaising with senior management to ensure compliance with budgets, performance targets, and operational requirements.
* Experience in overseeing staff training, development, appraisals, and managing their performance.
* Strong experience in health and safety management, including conducting risk assessments, implementing safe working practices, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
* Experience in maintaining and improving the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
