One of our valued veterinary surgeons has left the practice to go travelling and locuming in New Zealand, so we require an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join us either full or part-time.
The Role
We are currently a five and a half Vet practice with most of us working a 40-hour, 4-day week, although we are experienced in providing flexibility to fit around you. We have Vets Now in the building, which means we have no out of hours, only working a 1 in 5 Saturday morning weekend rota.
It also means we are often left with some interesting cases, and we tend to have one day a week where these might be our responsibility. One day a week is also normally spent at our branch practice in South Normanton, where routine operations are carried out as well as consults.
Our Practice
We are a practice that works well as a team, sharing ideas although happy for people to work up their own cases. We have a can-do attitude and there is always something to learn. We have a GP cert SAM holder in practice, someone who is halfway through their medicine certificate, some very good soft tissue surgeons, someone with an interest in ultrasound, and another who likes her ophthalmology. We therefore can accommodate most interests and are happy to support further qualifications.
Our nursing team are very experienced and proactive, including one RVN who has an anaesthesia postgraduate qualification and one with a medicine certificate. We try to have regular all-team meetings and Vet-only meetings and also arrange CPD lunch and learns as well as sharing knowledge when needed.
The practice is situated in Clay Cross itself with on-street parking; the branch at South Normanton has its own car park. Clay Cross is a town undergoing significant regeneration and new housing. It is close to the Peak District, Chatsworth, Bakewell, and Matlock, and also boasts various great walks the other side of the A61.
We are also close to Chesterfield, Sheffield, Derby, and Nottingham if you enjoy the theatre, shopping, or more exciting nightlife, but the local pubs and restaurants have good food and decent beer, and we have the best ice cream very nearby.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises, and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
